Safety and use
Read these instructions before using the current BinBuddy hanger. Keep them with the product and pass them on to anyone else who uses it.
Use only with both bins empty, on level, stable ground. Do not use on stairs, steps, curbs or slopes. The hanger does not prevent bins from tipping or rolling away.
What this version is for
Returning an empty Norfolk 120 L green bin with an empty Norfolk 240 L grey bin after collection, at walking pace. Keep control of the grey bin using its own handle. Remove the hanger before putting either bin out for collection.
This version has no published load rating. Do not use with waste, water or other contents in either bin. Do not lift or carry the connected bins by the hanger, pull them up steps, tow them with a vehicle, or use the hanger to support a person.
Before every use
- Check the hanger, grey rim and green handle for cracks, bending, wear, loose fit or damage. Stop using it if any of these are present, including changes after outdoor exposure, cold weather or an impact.
- With the grey bin upright on stable ground, seat both sides of the hanger fully over its rim. Seat the green rear handle fully in both cradles. Keep fingers clear of the contact points.
- Hold the grey bin's handle and tilt slowly. Check that the green bin clears the ground and stays seated. If the bins shift, rub the ground, or either connection lifts or slips, return them gently to the ground and disconnect them.
- Check that the route is level and clear. Keep children, pets and other people away from the moving bins.
While moving the bins
Walk slowly and keep hold of the grey bin's handle. Avoid sudden pulls, jolts and abrupt turns. Stop if either bin shifts or the hanger moves. Set the bins down gently and disconnect them before crossing steps, curbs, slopes, rough or slippery ground.
Do not leave the connected bins where they could roll, tip or block a walkway. Keep hands and feet out from under the suspended green bin. Do not modify, heat, drill or repair the hanger, or improvise a strap or latch for stair use.
Stairs
The current hanger is not a stair product. A retention mechanism concept does not establish that a product is safe for bumping bins over steps. Disconnect the bins and use another suitable method for stairs.
